Extended day program

St. Ann School offers an affordable Extended Day Program after each full day of school from 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm.  Our extended day program consists of After school Care and Extended Day Clubs.

Extended Day Clubs- There are typically two sessions of clubs – Fall & Winter. Club offerings are released in September & January each year. Clubs are provided at a minimal cost to families. All clubs begin at 3:15 and end at 4:15.  St. Ann Entrepreneur Club Dancing with Class Chess Club St. Ann Newspaper Club Cooking Club Robotics Club Girls Who Code Art Club

After school Care is $8.00 a day per family. Billing is completed at the end of every month through FACTS. Parents who do not pick up their child by 5:30 pm will be charged additional fees. 

The program includes daily snack, arts and crafts, games, and homework/reading time. All of our Extended Day Program staff participate in ongoing Virtus training and follow procedures outlined by the Archdiocese of Chicago in creating a safe and welcome environment for all children.

This coming semester we will be offering a diverse array of clubs and activities after school. I hope you can find one or more clubs below for your child. Unless stated otherwise, the times for the clubs will all be 3:15-4:15 and will run for 10 weeks.

St. Ann entrepreneur club

In this club students will learn the basics of creating a business and get the chance to compete in the Big Shoulders Fund city-wide entrepreneurship competition and earn grant money for St. Ann. Students will learn how to do a SWOT analysis, write a business plan, and create a business pitch. This club is led by Mr. Dempsey.

dance club

Students will learn the basics of ballroom dance. Students will have the opportunity to learn the bachata, waltz, tango, and foxtrot. Students will perform at Gala de Mayo. This club is led by an outside service provider Dancing with Class.

cHESS CLUB

Students will develop their intellect through the royal game of chess! Current research shows a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas including math and language arts. St. Ann will participate in the Catholic Cup Chess Tournament in May! This club is led by an outside service provider Twist and Shout Chess.

St. Ann newspaper club

In this club students will work together to create a school newspaper. Students will learn how to write articles, take photographs, create comics and games for the school newspaper. This club is led by Ms. Muñoz and Mr. MacDonald.

Cooking Club

Students will learn the basics of cooking. Each week they’ll create and taste new recipes. This club is led by Ms. Debbie, Ms. Darlene, and Ms. Linda.

In choir, students will work to learn and practice songs for all school masses. Students will learn the basics of reading music as well. This club is led by Mr. Arriaga.

Girls who Code

Girls in 3rd-8th grade will learn the basics of coding. In this program students will learn about different types of coding and practice these skills with hands-on projects. Students will also learn about women in STEM and how to apply these new skills to possible future careers. This club is led by Ms. Moore and Ms. Reynolds.

Art Club

Students will work on art projects and learn the basics of drawing and painting. These clubs are led by Ms. Ana and Ms. Jimenez. For the 4th-8th Art Club, the times are from 2:15-3:15 on early dismissal dates (1/29, 2/12, 2/26, 3/12, 4/9), and from 3:15-4:15 on regular dismissal dates.

Students will learn the basics of basketball, soccer, and other sports. This club is led by Mr. Carew and Mr. MacDonald.

Lego stem

Students will learn how to engineer designs and use software on iPads and Chromebooks to code their designs. Students will learn how to work in teams and think through challenges. For the 6th-8th Lego STEM Club the times are from 2:15-3:15 on early dismissal dates (1/29, 2/12, 2/26, 3/12, 4/9), and from 3:15-4:15 on regular dismissal dates. fight like a girl

Girls in 4th-8th grade will learn the basics of boxing, without any actual fights. Students will be trained by a coach from Box United. Students will also focus on social-emotional skills and how to use exercise to help improve their social interactions. The times are from 2:15-3:15 on early dismissal dates (1/29, 2/12, 2/26, 3/12, 4/9), and from 3:15-4:15 on regular dismissal dates. This club is led by an outside service provider Box United.
